Novel Bone Void Filling Cement Compositions Based on Shell Nacre and Siloxane Methacrylate Resin: Development and Characterization

چکیده
Shell nacre from Pinctada species has been extensively researched for managing bone defects. However, there is a gap in the research regarding using shell powder as cement with improved biological and physicochemical properties. To address this, void filling was formulated by incorporating an organically modified ceramic resin (ormocer). The specifically processed shells of fucata analysed thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Raman confirming presence organic constituents inorganic aragonite. Trace element confirmed eligibility biomedical applications. Next, ormocer SNLSM2 synthesized through sol–gel method. FTIR, Raman, TGA, transmission electron microscopy studies revealed ladder-structured siloxane backbone methacrylate side chain. develop chemical curable composite (SNC), different amounts (24%, 48%, 72%) were added to resin, impact on properties studied. Among compositions, SNC 72 exhibited significantly lower linear polymerization shrinkage (0.4%) higher compressive (>100 MPa) flexural strength (>35 MPa). radiopaque, exotherm generated during curing minimal. Cytotoxicity L929 cells non-cytotoxic nature cement. Overall, findings this study prove that promising candidate voids.

Bone graft expanders: filling the void.
Approximately 500,000 bone graft procedures are performed each year in the United States. The surge in the demand for graft material is largely the result of an increase in the number of spinal fusion procedures being performed. In 2001, only 22,000 bone donors existed worldwide, suggesting a shortage of available allograft in the future. This has led to the growing demand for bone graft substi...

Preparation and Characterization of Injectable Brushite Filled-Poly (Methyl Methacrylate) Bone Cement
Powder-liquid poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) bone cements are widely utilized for augmentation of bone fractures and fixation of orthopedic implants. These cements typically have an abundance of beneficial qualities, however their lack of bioactivity allows for continued development. To enhance osseointegration and bioactivity, calcium phosphate cements prepared with hydroxyapatite, brushite...
